HBF operates numerous member meetings and dedicated working groups to address emerging industry challenges or concerns. By contributing their expertise, members help shape the discussion and influence HBF’s position on key industry issues.
Planning member meetings
Regional planning meetings
Our expert team of planners delivers a range of regional planning meetings throughout the year, focusing on localised challenges and opportunities. These meetings are attended by planning professionals across our membership.
Technical member meetings
National Technical and Sustainability Committee (NTSC)
The National Technical and Sustainability Committee meets twice a year to consider technical issues relating to home building and review and comment on relevant aspects of building regulation.
Water Matters Group
Comprising housebuilders, water and sewerage company representatives, and regulatory bodies, our Water Matters Group collaborates on all related matters - including flooding and drainage - while also contributing to wider HBF work with Water UK through its monthly Infrastructure Policy Group.
Tall Buildings Group
Our Tall Buildings Group reviews the challenges and solutions involved with developing tall buildings, including fire strategy, material choices, regulatory reform and best practice responses to safe building performance.
Utilities Group
Attended by home builders and utility providers alike, our Utilities Group meets periodically to look at innovation, best practice, emerging legislation and challenges to delivery across the entire utilities network.
Highways Group
Bringing together home builder representatives and proactive highway authority representatives, our Highways Group discusses the many challenges with highway delivery and plausible solutions.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Group
Our EDI Group aims to ensure the sector is recognised as inclusive and progressive by increasing support for, adoption of, and implementation of policies that promote, attract, and sustain a diverse workforce.
Health and Safety Committee
The HBF Health and Safety Committee (HSC) is a membership group committed to driving further improvement in the health and safety performance of the home building sector.
Mental Health Awareness Group
Our dedicated Mental Health Awareness Group works to improve understanding of mental health within the home building industry, reduce stigma, and ensure employees know how and where to access support.
Home Building Sector Skills Plan – Steering Group
Made up of HBF member representatives and key stakeholders, the Steering Group provides strategic direction and decision-making support in delivering our skills roadmap, tackling workforce challenges now and in the future.

Made up of HBF member representatives and key stakeholders, the Delivery & Implementation Group is responsible for the implementation of programmes within the home building sector plan and managing project delivery in line with objectives.

Corporate Communications Group
Designed for senior communications professionals, this group offers regular updates on HBF’s key issues, messaging, and upcoming activities, while providing a platform to share insights and help shape future communications and research.
Marketing Group
Designed for senior marketing professionals, this group provides a forum to share insights, receive updates on HBF activity and areas of focus, and help shape future campaigns, while hearing from guest speakers.
Senior IT Leadership Groups
Our Senior IT Leadership Groups ensure provide a platform for members to share knowledge, information, and best practice guidance on IT infrastructure to ensure compliance with industry legislation and usability.
Regional MD meetings
We host regional Managing Director meetings, taking place once a quarter, in person or virtually. These sessions provide a valuable platform to deliver on-the-ground perspectives, hear from HBF’s leadership team, and collaborate with industry peers on topical challenges.
