Armed Forces in Home Building

The house building industry supports ex-armed forces personnel in their journey beyond the Armed Forces, from getting their feet on the property ladder, to finding a new career in construction.

According to the 2021 Census, 84,110 ex-armed forces personnel were employed in construction following their service.

Take a look at the ways you can support service persons below.

Become a Signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant

Many house builders have signed the Armed Forces Covenant; a voluntary pledge to demonstrate support for the Armed Forces Community. All organisations – public, private or voluntary and small, medium or large – are welcome to sign the Covenant.

All signatories are free to tailor their specific pledges to suit their circumstances.

Signatories in the house building industry can support the values of the pledge by offering employment schemes for ex-armed forces personnel. Becoming a signatory also provides the opportunity to be recognised by the Employer Recognition Scheme award.

If you are interested in signing the Covenant, you can find more information on the Armed Forces Covenant website.
