Code for Sustainable Buildings

26 July, 2004

The Deputy Prime Minister has signalled government approval for a Code for Sustainable Buildings, as proposed by the Sustainable Buildings Task Group.

The Code is intended to secure higher standards for energy and water efficiency, as well as waste and use of materials. The first outline should be available in time for the Sustainable Communities Summit in January 2005.

The Code should be complete by the end of 2005, so that action can be taken nationally in early 2006.
