Free Mental Health Awareness Training for HBF's SME members

The Home Builders Federation (HBF) is working with the Lighthouse Club Construction Industry Charity to offer free mental health awareness training for those working in small and mid-sized enterprises (SMEs) and the supply chain.

SME workers make up 98% of the construction industry, but many do not have access to company mental health support or employee assistance programmes. In addition, over 70% of employees working in the industry do not recognise the early signs of mental health problems with more needing to be done to help those employed in smaller businesses get the support they need.

The Lighthouse Club’s training course provides information on how to raise mental health awareness within an organisation, how to maintain well-being or how to approach the stigma associated with mental ill-health. The facilitators also discuss what signs to look out for and how to start a conversation with someone who may be struggling.

Attendees will receive a wealth of advice and guidance on how to look after their own mental health and what confidential support is available to them, their colleagues and their families.

Courses will be held throughout 2023 with the next three sessions taking place online on Friday 17 February, Tuesday 11 April and Wednesday 14 June 2023 , virtually.

However, spaces are limited so participants are asked to book their place as soon as possible.

We would also encourage employers to share this information with their supply chain employees to ensure the training is reaching as many people as possible.
