Draws up schemes on sites where sheltered housing is to be built. Organises planning meetings with various local councils. Attend Appeal hearings where necessary. Copies drawings out to various sites and other departments.

WHAT DO YOU DO ON A DAY-TO-DAY BASIS?

Perform various secretarial duties for the department, including compiling Pink Files, general typing, scanning drawings, photocopying, arranging planning meetings, arranging inter-departmental meetings.

Cover reception when necessary.

Cover for RMDs secretary where necessary

Answer telephone calls.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT WHAT YOU DO?

I enjoy learning about new sites and prospective developments.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS CAREER?

I have always been either secretarial or admin based.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS DID YOU NEED TO GET THIS JOB?

Full secretarial skills including accurate typewriting, communication skills and minute taking experience.

IS THERE ANY PARTICULAR ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE A GRADUATE OR TRAINEE LOOKING FOR A JOB IN YOUR WORK AREA?

Not really – I don’t know enough about being an Architect to advise.
