London is still the Nation’s Favourite Place to Live

NEW research shows that London is still the nations most popular city when it comes to looking for a new home.

Research from the UKs leading website for brand new homes, new-homes.co.uk showed that 20% of searches on the site in March were in the South East region with London being the most popular search. Even though apartments are becoming increasingly widespread, figures further confirm that houses are still proving more popular than apartments at the moment.

Further analysis showed that 13% of people searching for a home in the South East were looking for a home priced between 150,000 and 200,000 ideally with three bedrooms.

Mick Noble, chairman of the New Homes Marketing Board, which operates www.new-homes.co.uk, said: This research suggests that the traditional house is still what the majority of homebuyers want and with a 32% growth in the average number of visits per day through out most of 2003, new-homes.co.uk is the place to search for it.

The internet is becoming increasingly popular to search for a new home and findings from the Halifax and New Homes Marketing Board annual survey revealed that 82% of buyers expect to make some use of property websites the next time they move, and 37% expect it to be their main source of information in their search for an ideal home.

New-homes.co.uk which represents over 81% of new housing developers in the UK recently celebrated its two year anniversary. The success of the site speaks for itself. Winning Best Property Portal at the 2003 International Property Awards and receiving over a million visitors to the site and 1.5 million searches, it is clearly leading the way for the future of house buying in the UK.
