What does someone in Marketing do?

The Marketing department has an input in to all sales matters, from market research for land appraisal, setting up and branding new developments, attracting visitors to site through pro-active marketing. Releasing plots for the consultants to sell at achievable prices and maximising the revenue wherever possible. Assisting consultants to meet the set targets. Provide administrative support for the sales team on site and close liaison with all other departments. They also keep a close eye competitors, second hand market and other market trends.

A marketing officers role can be a wide spectrum of tasks, you may do all or only focus on a few of the below tasks dependant on the size and structure of the marketing department.

A marketing officer would source and oversee a group of outside resources such as copywriters, graphic designers, web designers, database specialists, and printers ensuring that your company gets the best results from its marketing efforts. Focus on the customer needs, monitor the competition, make sure your branding presence is affluent, create new marketing ideas, and monitor internal and external communications. Manage a marketing budget, analyse your communications and create statistics such as – are you reaching the right audience, how many people clicked on your last advertising campaign etc.

Strong organisational skills and administrative skills

Excellent communications skills both written and oral
