Northampton draft statement of community involvement

4 August, 2004

The HBF has submitted written comments to Northampton Borough Council in relation to its draft statement of community involvement.

The HBF made the following comments:

Paragraph 2.5.1

The HBF assumes that it will always be directly consulted under the developers/agents/landowners category.

Paragraph 2.6.8

The HBF welcomes the councils commitment to consult with the development industry in relation to the content of development control policies. It hopes that this can be done at an early enough stage to avoid problems later on.

Paragraph 2.6.8

A minimum consultation period of six weeks (rather than four weeks) is favoured by the HBF, in order to provide interested parties with a reasonable time-period in which to consider the documents content, and respond to it if necessary.

Appendix C

It is important that the attention of interested parties is drawn to specific documents and consultations. Whilst the councils website is no doubt a useful tool, people will often only look at it if their attention is expressly drawn to the fact that there is new information on it concerning matters of interest to them.

E-mail updates concerning progress to interested parties might be beneficial.
