Oadby & Wigston Managing Housing Supply SPG

8 Dec, 2003

HBF has submitted written representations to Oadby & Wigston Borough Council in response to its draft SPG in relation to Managing the Supply of Housing Land. The HBF does not believe that housing supply is a tap that can be easily switched on and off in order to readily increase or decrease supply. Developments can extend over very long timescales.

The HBF has pointed out that the Structure Plan target will not be met until all the necessary numbers of dwellings have been completed. There is no guarantee that all sites with planning permission will be developed, and those that are will not necessarily be completed by 2006.

The HBF also queries whether the tables shown have taken full account of both demolitions and losses to other uses as categories. Allowances for both of these should be made for the lifetime of any plan period.
