Planning Bill

4 December, 2003

Those elements of the Planning Bill, which relate to Wales, have passed through the Committee Stage in the House of Commons without change. The Welsh amendments to the Bill refer to the requirement for the Assembly to prepare a Spatial Plan for Wales and the requirement for all Welsh Planning Authorities to prepare Local Development Plans. The Bill’s proposals on the development control side that are considered to be harmful to housebuilders apply to Wales. These include the abolition of outline planning consent, the end of repeat applications and an effective ban on twin-tracking of planning applications.
