In March 2001 DEFRA issued a consultation paper setting out preliminary proposals on regulations to amend/replace the Special Waste Regulations 1996 and implement changes to the European Commission’s hazardous wastes list.
Two sets of regulations are now proposed: the List of Wastes Regulations which will transpose the European Waste Catalogue and the Hazardous Waste Regulations which will replace the Special Waste Regulations.
The HBF's contaminated land sub group will be considering the proposals. The closing date for responses is Friday 29 October 2004 so if anyone has any views please forward them to technical@hbf.co.uk (HBF) by the first week in October.
