Tees Valley

22 February, 2021

In February, the Financial Times reported that thousands of civil servants from the Treasury and other departments were set to relocate to Northern England and the Midlands, as part of the Government’s ‘levelling-up’ agenda.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen has since suggested a number of locations within the Tees Valley for departments to relocate to. Mayor Houchen said: “The relocation of the Civil Service is a once in a lifetime opportunity, if Government get it right not only will we see a major change in outlook from those who make policy, but young people from across Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool will see a career within the Civil Service as a real possibility.”
