Wellingborough Affordable Housing SPG

21 November, 2003

The Council uses the findings of its Housing Needs Survey to justify a new requirement for 28% affordable housing provision on any site (not just those above the thresholds set out in policy H8 in its Adopted Local Plan).

HBF has submitted representations to Wellingborough Council concerning its Draft Supplementary Planning Guidance on Affordable Housing.

HBFs primary concern to the production of the SPG was that the guidance was not sufficiently directly related to policies in the Adopted Local Plan contrary to government planning guidance.

It is also very evident that some of the requirements in respect of the affordable housing policies in the Adopted Plan and the Draft SPG are at major variance.

The policy and its reasoned justification are considered by the HBF to place far too much emphasis on the narrow role of social rented accommodation and RSLs in delivering affordable housing.
